“Consistency is one of the most powerful usability principles: when things always behave the same, users don’t have to worry about what will happen. Instead, they know what will happen based on earlier experience.” |

A usability test with 5 users can uncover over 80% of all critical site-level errors that could be costing you users/customers. The average website has 40 main usability flaws. What this means for people who depend on software or websites as a source of promoting or selling services/information is that they are just one small step away from their users clicking on to the next site. The average user can only complete 42% of tasks they set out to complete. This results in a loss of exposure and loss of business that could have come from that exposure. The average user stays on a website for only 10-20 seconds, and if they don't find what they are looking for they leave. If you can keep a customer interested in your site for between 30-40 seconds the chances of them leaving your website decrease exponentially. It is our job at UX Research Labs to make sure that users stay on your site long enough to become a returning user/customer. Users are very weary of information on the internet, if they see flaws in a website they no longer possess the same opinion of the website. As users notice more and more errors within websites and software they begin to think that you may not be the expert that they thought you were, users who loose trust in websites are more than willing to go to a competitor who has a more professional and error-free interface. |
